STUDENTS DESCRIPTIVE ASSESSMENT
Student Assessment
At Ekpaideftiria Bougas High School, we place great emphasis on descriptive assessment, an innovative approach that has been implemented in secondary education in recent years. Every term, parents and students receive the School Progress Report (S.P.R.). This report is written and provided by teachers to students and parents, along with the performance evaluation at the end of each term, focusing on selected subjects. Specifically, the descriptive assessment:
- provides a qualitative evaluation of each student's performance, derived through a continuous and systematic process of collecting, recording, interpreting, and utilizing information about their progress and achievements, as well as the process they followed to reach this specific performance level.
- fosters cooperation
- does not create performance anxiety in students
- boosts self-confidence
- takes into account the whole student by equally assessing cognitive abilities and the emotional and social aspects of their personality and behavior
- enhances the cooperation between school and family
Student Self-Assessment
Self-assessment is also an important part of the evaluation process. As many education specialists advocate, it is beneficial for a student to self-reflect and frequently evaluate themselves.
Therefore, at the end of each term, we provide each child with a self-assessment sheet to complete, which we review to offer tailored support based on their self-reflection.
