GAMIFIED INTRODUCTION TO GAMIFICATION
Student-centered approach, gamified learning
Dilemma-based learning and strategies for designing and implementing lesson plans were the focus of the project "Gamified Introduction to Gamification" Erasmus+ Project: 2021-2-EL01-KA210-SCH-000050330
in which 4 teachers from all levels of our school participated as trainees. Yiota Konstantinea from the Kindergarten, Ioanna Bouga, Primary School, Christina Dimiza and Konstantina Kormas from the High School-Senior High School of Ekpaideftiria Bougas.
The program was designed by the Europass Teacher Academy in collaboration with Serious Games Interactive and the Peloponnese PDE (partners) and in its B phase included
- 5 days of 30 hours of training for teachers from schools in the Peloponnese Region during March,
- design and implementation of in-class lesson plans that make use of the dilemma and the Dibl platform in April
- feedback, delivery and final evaluation in May.
A main point of the training was the familiarization of the trainees with the concept of the dilemma, a question to which there is no right and wrong answer and in which the choice is made between two or more situations/cases/conditions whose consequences seem equally unpleasant or equally attractive.
Dilemma-based learning (dilemma-based learning)
The scenarios used are supporting active learning strategies, such as problem-based learning and case-based learning.
Through the dilemma we cultivate life skills: we teach the use of values and emotion management, encourage critical thinking, raise awareness of serious issues, encourage discussion and share opinions.
A variety of subjects such as Social and Civic Education, Religious Education, Ancient Greek Literature and Lego Machines gave us the opportunity to experiment didactically with students from 5 to 15 years old.
Teachers and students were opened up to paths and horizons that reinforced our belief that play is the only serious way to learn and that meaningful knowledge is all the skills that remain when school is over.
