MORNING ZONE SKILLS GROUPS
If we combine the teaching hour of the Skills Labs lesson with the teaching hour of the Technology lesson in the Secondary School, then we will form in the timetable a single two-hour period for all classes, during which we as a school community can aim to shape children into free and responsible citizens and to strengthen 21st century learning skills, life skills, mediation, responsibility and empathy, strategic thinking, problem solving and reflection skills, as well as digital learning, technology, engineering and science skills. And all this can be achieved if we create mixed age Education Groups during the morning lesson zone, which will be targeted at all secondary school children and which they will be invited to join on a compulsory basis following a reasoned selection process.
Thus, during the school year 2024-2025, Morning Zone Educational Groups have been formed for the following subjects:
- School Newspaper - Blog
- Learning Science through Theatre
- Inclusion, Equity and Mental Health
- Environment - Climate Change
- Cultural Heritage - Games

The objectives of our Group are:
Deeper understanding of the importance of the game
Students will learn the importance of play for a child's all-round development (physical, cognitive, social and emotional) and how play contributes to learning. They will also study the cultural and social significance of play in antiquity and explore the relationship between play, learning and entertainment.
Introduction to Ancient Games and Comparison with Modern Games
Introducing students to ancient Greek games such as the ankle, spinning wheel, tug-of-war, etc. The main aim is to understand how children had fun in ancient times and how these games reflected their culture. It will also look for similarities and differences between games of antiquity and modern games and, in particular, the elements that remain timeless in games, such as fun, socialization and skill development.
Interdisciplinary approach
Linking games with other disciplines such as history and art. The importance of games as an object of study and a means of understanding human civilization will be highlighted through the study of ancient games as students will come into contact with the culture and everyday life of ancient Greece and other ancient civilizations.
Cultivating Creativity, Cooperation, Teamwork and Skills Development
Encourage students to construct or recreate ancient games using simple materials to understand the process of creation and experience the play of the time. Also, through participation in group games from antiquity, children will develop cooperative skills, mutual aid and learn to work in a team. Finally, the children will be introduced to new technologies (3D Printer - Laser Cutter) and through them they will try to create their own versions of existing games or some new ones.
