In Gymnasium the English course is taught daily and the pupils’ needs are fully covered by the school curriculum. Our goal is to develop students’ oral and written skills and to prepare them for participating the language exams according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages levels B1 to C2 (Cambridge, Michigan, LRN, PTE …). Testing procedures are completed through the school.
Small student groups, continuous training of our teaching staff and the use of modern technologies and tools contribute to the great success of our students in the language examinations at every examination period.
In Lyceum, students have the choice to continue their preparation for the acquisition of language diplomas. They can also attend IELTS preparation courses, certification that is a prerequisite for admission to English-speaking universities.

AWARD CERTIFICATES
On Sunday 20th of November 2016 at 6.30 pm in the patio area of Bougas Private Schools, the annual certification of language skills for foreign languages took place.
The event began with the International School Award (ISA), our school’s recognition certificate, as a school unit who develops international activities, handed by Mrs. Maria Nomikou, responsible for partnerships and programs of the British Council. We were also honored with the presence of Mr. Steven Taylor, Cambridge University Senior Educational Consultant for Southeast Europe, who presented us with “The History of English Language in Three Minutes”!
At the end of the event, the children sang a song about the European Day of Languages, celebrated each year on September 26th.
SUMMER COURSES AT A UNIVERSITY OF ENGLAND
SUMMER COURSE 2016-KEELE UNIVERSITY
For another year, Bougas Schools have enabled students to take part in a summer training program in Great Britain, at Keele University in Manchester. This program lasted ten days – 7 days at the university and 3 days in London and children were escorted by teachers of our school. The aim of the trip was to get to know more about the british culture, to speak a foreign language, to communicate, to entertain and to cultivate values such as friendship, mutual respect and solidarity.
From July 8th to July 15th, the children stayed at Keele University’s premises, where they trained with qualified staff. During their stay, they took part in many activities, educational trips and came into contact with students from other countries. There was a specially designed training program that provided 4 hours of teaching daily under the British Council’s approval. The pupils were ranked according to their level and were given a certificate of attendance at the end of the lessons. Along with the courses, the students visited the cities of Manchester, Liverpool and Chester. They also took part in activities such as Sports Tournaments, Evening Disco, Quiz Night, Talent and Mini-Olympics.
The trip continued from July 15 to July 17 in London, where students went sightseeing and the experienced the rhythm of life in an English city. They visited the British Museum, the Natural History and Science Museum, the Madame Tussaud Museum – they saw the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and most of the city’s famous sites. They had the opportunity to walk around the city, shop and have fun.
It was a wonderful trip with positive experiences and many sweet memories that will accompany us forever.

This year students of Bougas Schools participated in the 4th Panhellenic school video contest “Respect Diversity – Say NO to school bullying”. The competition is organized each year by the British Council and the International Olympic Truce Center. The purpose of the contest is to highlight the ideals and values of Olympism and the Olympic Truce, raise awareness of pupils, parents and teachers about the phenomenon of school violence.
The students of the 6th grade of the primary school of Bougas Schools, Maria Georgopoulou, Dimitris Zareas, Maria Kotsiari, Dimitris Koumoundouros and Alexandros Efrem Matthiopoulos formed the group “Anti-cyberbullying warriors”. With love and willingness for cooperation, the children created a short video emphasizing the value of information and friendship when faced with school bullying. In the following video we can enjoy the results of the children’s effort.
Education is not just an exam and we want to give formal recognition to our school activities, so we have taken part in the British Council test to obtain the ISA-International School Award. This certification is a recognition that our school has incorporated elements of international interest into its curriculum. It is an international certification that recognizes the commitment of the school to shaping citizens of the world.
During the school year 2015-2016 Bougas Schools were awarded by the Hellenic British Union and the Cambridge Exam Center for their outstanding contribution to education as one of the best certification preparation centers in Greece.

Last year students of the 6th Grade of our Primary School and of the 1st grade of High School of Bougas Schools had the opportunity to communicate with three English-speaking foreign schools: in England, Jamaica and Zimbabwe by sending information for our country and habits. This year communication with foreign students will continue with schools from other countries.
We cannot display this galleryMore specifically, this year’s primary school pupils collaborate with ICS G. Perlasca High School, located in Bareggio, near Milan, Italy, and the Ysgol Hendrefelin Special School, located in Wales, United Kingdom. Up to now, students from all three schools have exchanged information on their everyday life (school life-extracurricular activities), our country’s traditions (carnival celebrations, etc.), nutrition, climatic conditions, etc. using the English language.
Communication and collaboration with these schools through eTwinning will continue until the end of the school year and we all wish to learn more interesting and exciting information from our friends in Italy and the UK strengthening the relationships between young people from these school units.
